What does the First Quarter Moon Phase Really Mean?
A little backup about my interest in the moon to begin with. I have always been drawn to the moon and at this time of year in the Fall is when I love to see those big orangey harvest moons rising up into the evening sky. And I have always noticed when things and events got a little wonky it was usually around the full moon. I also think that the lunar cycles are an excellent tool to use to plan and make goals for what you want to accomplish for that 28 day cycle as the moon passes through its phases.
As an aside, we all know the moon affects the ebb and flow of the ocean and I am sure since we are mostly water it affects us too. It has also been written about planting and harvesting to the phases of the moon in the almanacs. So there is some basis for the various effects of the moon and it just depends on your point of view.
And, well let’s back up a bit and start at the beginning of the Lunar Cycle to get to the point of the First Quarter Phase which is now.
The New Moon was October 13th when it was completely dark and not visible. This time of the cycle is like a clean slate where you can plant new goals as well as planting seeds in the ground. This is the time to sit and think about what you would like to accomplish in this 28 day cycle of the Lunar Month. I had sat down and set some intentions for this month ~ mainly to journal at least 3 times a week for myself and for my business to do this blog challenge~ so here I am!
October 15 – 18 was the Waxing Crescent. This is the time when the moon starts growing. Over this past weekend I was noticing this stage as the moon looked like the end of a fingernail in the sky. It looked really pretty. This Crescent Moon is the time to state what your plans are for this month and I don’t standing on a soapbox and telling the world. But you can write them down on a piece of paper and/or journal about them. Setting them down on paper makes them known to yourself that these are your intentions and hopes and wishes for this month.
October 19-21 is the First Quarter Phase. This is the middle of the waxing phase and I have seen the term “half- cooked” referring to this phase which sounds funny. But this time is when you also want to nurture these goals that you set around the New Moon, how are your creating and encouraging these goals that you have set? What small steps are you taking towards achieving these goals, take time to consider what steps you wish to take to make them real. Gather the information you need to accomplish your goals- maybe put your goals on a piece of paper and tape them to a mirror so you see them daily and are reminded of what you want to accomplish. This kind of intention can attract and bring that kind of positive energy that can help you carry through for what you want to bring into your life!
What have you decided you want to accomplish the rest of this lunar cycle?
You can visit this site that has the Moon Phases Calendar to see where the moon is at in its cycle.

Very interesting post, I had no idea. I use a Passion Planner to set goals: yearly, monthly, weekly and daily. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the moon going forward.
