Pumpkin Spice Coffee in the Store is a Hint
Last weekend when I went grocery shopping there was the pile of Pumpkin Spice Coffee staring me in the face. I felt almost giddy with excitement. For me, this is the first hint that Fall is coming! I can almost hear the crunch my shoes make walking through the leaves! Woohoo!
I must admit I am not a Summer person nor a hot weather person. I am more a Spring-Fall-Winter and the Summer person. I tend to push through the Summer to get to those next cycles of Fall, Winter and Spring. I am not sure why I do this.
I do not believe I am the only one that will rush through a season to one I like better. I think we are all guilty of this at one time or another. We all want to get through the yucky stuff so we can do the fun stuff. I think the problem is when we just keep rushing and do not stop and slow things down a bit. We do not appreciate where we are right now at this exact time.
Always looking forward or looking backward. But never being in the moment. Not being present and aware of our surroundings. Fretting about the past or dreaming about the future puts you off from living fully and enjoying the present. This present which is a gift to us.
We are all moving so fast that we feel we cannot be present as our minds are constantly running at 100 miles per hour. But what if we just stopped for a moment. Stopped and put the brakes on – can you hear them screeching to a halt? How about a couple of fifteen minute breaks during our hectic day where we just stopped and got up from our desk and walked outside and breathed some air and felt the sun on our faces.
Would this not be heaven to do this for our spirit?
Would this not help ourselves to just be? We would then be present and tell our spirit hello and how are you doing today!
Can you tell yourself to take a break and notice your surroundings and just breathe?
Go ahead I know you want to!
