Do you burrow in the winter?
It’s already January 17th but the nights are still long, and the days are cold and we still have a ways to go till spring. We have survived the holiday rush and new year’s celebrations and hopefully, our to-do lists have shortened.
Many animals hibernate over the winter months. They climb into their burrows when the wind blows cold, and the nights get longer.
But what if these cold longer nights are nature’s way of telling you to slow down and for you to be still also. Now is the time to pause and burrow down deep. This is also the time to turn your energy inward like the great trees and reach down into the earth.
Get into that still space within yourself where you can just wait like seedlings for the warm sun to come round again. What new thoughts for yourself for 2022 are held tightly within.
What intentions do you have for the new year? I am not talking about resolutions but intentions. These are your hopes and dreams for the new year. Things you want to aim for that fill you up with hope and inspiration. These are not goals to be hard-won but those things that set your passion and you afire.
Think of the seedling that sprouts and reaches for the sun in its warm light to grow and reach high. What desires do you intend for this year?
What fills your heart and what do you value?
I wish these all for you!
So, burrow deeply down within yourself and just be still and listen to your heart.
Ground yourself like a tree and feel your roots burrow into the earth and feel yourself sink in.
Strike a match and light a candle and shut the door and enter the warm water of your bath let it envelop you.
