seasons
Fall is upon us and are you ready for it?
The Spirits travel across the darkening indigo sky
Longer nights reaching dark fingers across the land
Cooler breezes whisper through the woods rustling leaves to the ground
Squirrels scamper home to bury themselves safe into their nests
We are way into the fall season and soon it will be All Hallows Eve or as it is better known as Halloween. The days are noticeably shorter, and the mornings are colder. I actually turned on the heat for the first time today as the temperature was 41 this morning.
But the seasons and their cycles keep ever turning. Just like the cycles of the moon from Full to New and back to Full again.
All the harvests right now are gathered in, and the days grow shorter and shorter until the Winter Solstice around December 21st. That is the day when the sun appears to stand still in the sky where it rises and sets in the same place and the days start growing longer again little by little.
For myself during these days of nights growing longer, I feel myself steadily growing inward to myself. I seem to ponder more about what I have grown this year- what I have gathered unto myself and what are my dreams and intentions for the coming year as this year is closing itself out.
Do you notice the changing seasons, and do they talk to you? When the season of Spring comes after a long winter, and you see that first crocus or some new leaves unfurling on a tree what feelings come to you? New beginnings perhaps?
Each season as it begins seems to bring with it certain feelings that vibrate in our bodies. They do influence us and have a story or invitation for us to listen to ourselves more deeply.
Why not take some time for yourself? Shut the door and draw a bath, light a candle and immerse yourself within the warm waters and just be still and listen to what thoughts and feelings come up.
What about this season as the nights lengthen and the moon is coming into its fullness? Do these things quiet your spirit and help you go deep inside and ponder where you have been? What grand things you have done or wish you had done?
Maybe it’s a good time for a review?
