Autumnal Equinox and Pumpkins & Spices Oh My
We are now well into the midst of September and each year I wait patiently for the Pumpkin Spice Latte’s to hit Starbucks. For me that is the beginning of Fall and my favorite season. And of course the temperatures are getting cooler and the days are starting to noticeably get shorter. When I comment to someone about the coolness of the day I almost always get the reply ” This is my favorite time of year!”
I was assuming that the first day of Fall would have been September 21st but according to the Farmer’s Almanac the first day of Autumn is actually September 23rd and starts at 4:21 AM that morning!
I look forward to cooler days and longer nights. I look for Honey Crisp Apples in the grocery store and love that first taste of apple cider for the year. I love everything pumpkin~ pumpkin pie and bread and Pumpkin Butter and of course Pumpkin Spice Lattes. The scent of cinnamon and clove are real comfy smells for me at this time of year. The spiciness of the season warms my soul.
I love walking through leaf piles and scuffing my feet through the leaves. Wouldn’t you love a HUGE leaf pile to jump into ? I know I would but, just not with a wet sucker. I always think of that line from Linus of Charlie Brown.
Fall is also the time to notice the end of the year is slowly working its way toward us and we realize there may be a few or several things we wanted to have completed this year. I know I have a list of things I want to complete now that the cool weather is here. That coolness seems to invigorate me and nudges me to get moving.
The earth is moving into the next season and are you ready to move with it?
I want to credit Bill Paulino for the lovely photo above. The picture just says Autumn to me with the lovely leaves, beautiful clear crisp blue sky and of course the blue water.

Autumn is also my favorite time of your. September signals a new beginning for me, maybe since schools start in September. It’s a time to get motivated and energized to make changes in my life after the lazy summer. Love Bill’s picture!

Happy First Day of Fall! This season is one of my favorites too. Like you said the spices and the honey crisp apples are some of my favorites. I love going to Apple Hill in California at this time of year.
