Do You have Little Altars Everywhere?
Little Altars Everywhere is a book by Rebecca Wells who also wrote The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Both of these books are ones that I have read and am rereading.
I have always liked the phrase Little Altars Everywhere, and you may be wondering why. Have you looked around your house and wondered maybe why you placed certain items in certain places? Places where you have collected family and special photographs displayed on a shelf or dresser top or nightstand. Even items you have around your computer at work. Items that hold special meaning for you and help you feel at home?
I collect stones, bits of shells from the beach, a bird feather found on a walk. Flowers, candles and other items that resonate with me.
What things did you collect as a child and put on that window sill in your bedroom? What places in your home now hold special items or photos that resonate with your spirit and comfort you? What items draw your attention? Have you noticed them recently and given them attention lately? Sometimes we have collected items from a special time and then “forgot “them.
These special places in our home can be considered as altars to ourselves. Places and items that create special meaning in our lives of who we are and what we value and why.
These are altars we probably created subconsciously but say allot about who we are and what calls to us to notice. These are little sacred spaces we create without even noticing what we are doing. We are creating little mystical places that call to our spirit.
What places are you now noticing in your home with perhaps different eyes than before? Do you see where you have created little altars in your space?
Please hit reply and let me know about your little altars, would love to hear from you.
