Bathing, Rituals
Shutting the Door and a Bath
I know particularly at these seeming chaotic times we need a place where we can find sanctuary and settle into yourselves. We need to let the outside world go with its chaos and pandemic and worries to feel safe.
We are trying to calm ourselves down and hunker down. We feel at times not comfortable going outside and being around others with face masks and social distancing.
So what about maybe looking to your bath as a place to name as your sanctuary?
Many years ago I taught myself to make soap from scratch and loved the chemistry and art to it and of course the scents.
But before that, I loved to take baths- very warm to hot water, a candlelit, bath salts, and soap. This was my time for a quiet retreat from the stress and the world outside that bathroom door.
This was my time to relax and settle back into myself and feel grounded and centered. This was my retreat and my ritual.
Okay and now for that card image at the top. I was at the time, working with tarot cards and particularly loved this deck created by Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel. This deck is called the Motherpeace deck and is a particularly woman-oriented set.
Cards identified as “fours” are said to be “fixed signs are still and inward, drawing energy themselves rather than thrusting outward…they correspond elementally to water.”
And “the four of discs represent an inner sanctuary of some kind…where a person can be alone and sheltered.”
For myself, my bath is my meditation space and my sanctuary. This is where I can spiral into the center of myself and I can let the outside world go.

Close that door and light a candle and sink down into the warm water. Stay there at least till the water gets cold.
Let us help you with some of our Lavender or Tranquility soap and bath salts to find your center.
