seasons
Fall is upon us and the seasons cycle round the year
A few months ago this Sedum was standing proud and tall and had pretty pink blossoms blooming. The bees and butterflies were having a feast on the pollen and getting fat and happy. Now that Summer has ended, the flowers have turned all dark and the plants are falling down. My Hydrangea bush in the back is also looking somewhat sad as the beautiful flowers have withered. The air is getting allot cooler, finally and it looks like an Autumn rainy season has come round. A few weeks ago we had the Autumnal Equinox which marked the day of the even hours of light and dark. We are definitely now moving toward the days growing shorter. The fields are being harvested and pumpkins and winter squash are laid out everywhere you look in the food markets. Another sign is the Pumpkin Spice Latte’s at Starbucks ! That for me is another signal that the Fall season has hit! The fields are being cleared to make room for new plantings to come next Spring. This is a time for giving thanks and also a time for reflection and a time for turning inward as the cycle spins toward Winter and the Solstice.
For me, this Fall has also meant clearing out some space in my house, gathering up books bought which I know I will never read and giving them a new home. Going through clothes and deciding do I really need this or that. I feel like I am clearing my own fields in my house to be able to spread out and have some breathing room. I am amazed at how much more open and clear the room looks in my office. I feel like I have space to work and not feel so crowded. Another part of me wants to burrow myself down into a hidey hole and get ready for winter. I look at where I have come this year and all the changes and growth that have happened. My grown children have moved out once again with my daughter getting married, granddaughter started in college and my son way off on the west coast. I have an empty nest again for the first time in several years.
I am looking forward to seeing where this season will take me. I feel like I am at a crossroads and wonder what road to take. I am filled with some new ideas for Ritual Waters and am seeing a new path that will take through the next year. I am very excited about it and need to focus on making it a reality.
What things have you brought to fruition this past season and what seeds will you be planting for next Spring. Winter is a good time to plan and have ideas germinate so you can plant them in the warm Spring time.

Enjoyed your post. I’ve been in that clearing out space mode myself. More inside than out. Both are very much in need of it.

I like your comment about clearing out the space inside ourselves- thank you for that! Need to get my journal out and do some writing!

Clearing out is liberating…You cannot allow for new to come in your life holding on to stuff that no longer serves you….

I am needing allot of liberation! Allot of stuff to move out so I can move on! Thanks for stopping by! Marilyn

What a great post – so important to clear the clutter not only on the outside but the inside too and make that space for yourself and your business too.

Yes it is important- why I love to write morning pages- a good place to dump out what’s inside before you begin your day. Julia Cameron wrote in her book The Artist’s Way- she writes that “the pages are a pathway to a strong and clear sense of self”. And I think this is a good goal in working to clear out the clutter on the inside and in your business too! :o)

What an inspiring post, Marilyn. It sounds as though you’ve had a great start to autumn. I, too, am preparing for a new season. Autumn and winter are my most productive times for writing, I find, so I’ve been planning on what’s next for my work. Excited to see what emerges for us both as the Ultimate Blog Challenge unfolds.

Susan, I am hoping to keep better up on the psots for this challenge as I have not kept up on some past challenges and poop out midstream. I am looking forward to this challenge and new things coming this season into my life. Good luck with your writing plans and your writing! Marilyn
