Excitement & Passion for life…..
Please watch this short video to see what I mean ~ 100_1825 Over the past several months, when I come home I have been taking my dog Tinkerbell out for a walk. Note she has been in her crate all day but still she gets so excited that she starts panting and running up and down the stairs urging me to hurry up and “come on let’s go Ma!” I seem to be missing the importance that there is a world out there of sniffs to explore and places to investigate. She has a real passion for these simple walks and her energy is boundless! And I envy her enthusiasm for this time that means so much to her. She gives herself totally to the moment and immerses herself in it. I know this is a silly thing to say but once in a while I would like to see things from my dog’s perspective and just be present in the moment, not thinking past or present but just being. This is what Eckert Tolle and all the great teachers have been trying to tell us, to just be in the present and live joyfully in this moment and be here now. We need to give this gift, this present to ourselves.
So if my dog can do it, why is it so hard for me? I can only do this in bits and pieces of time and then thoughts from the past and future worries collide upon the horizon and I have lost the present.
I think we can all learn from our pets and just be present and notice what is there in front of our faces and smell the sniffs in the air and let the breezes blow through our hair and ears and just enjoy being alive!
What do you think?

I totally agree Marilyn. Pets and especially dogs are good examples of living in the now. Children also live in the now and are excited about discovery, learning and adventure. We need to grab back our natural child like wonder of the world.

Totally agree. We have way too much time invested in being adults and need to reach back and grab the hand of that inner child and let them lead us for awhile at least.

This is so true, Marilyn! I often have to remind myself to slow down, not rush to the next thing, rather than savoring the present moment. Will be more mindful today, seeing things from the perspective of my dog and kids. Thank you!
