Creativity, Rituals
What is your joyful breath?
Recently I went Taos, New Mexico for Creativity Weekend. I wanted to work on my writing to be more comfortable with it and not battle it so much. I feel like at times that me and writing kind circle each other trying to figure out who will win. It was a wonderful creative weekend and me and writing I feel have made peace.
But where joyful breath comes in is here. We were asked on the first night for our word for this week and the word JOY bubbled up for me. I wanted to feel JOY in my writing and in my life more. I have not been playing enough and have too serious.
I had taken myself out of North Carolina into the wilds of New Mexico and also at a different altitude! This place is 6969 feet above sea level. How wondrous is that?
This was my creative space to settle in with my muse of writing as the facilitator had named it.
Joyful Breath
Be present with yourself
Let the Rest Fall Away
Be sure in your self
Take this time
This precious time to be with who you are
Who you really are
I settled into this weekend and took time to be present, walked a labyrinth and explored parts of myself like water color that I didn’t I liked. Now my task is to keep moving along this path and not let it disappear like smoke in the wind.
My question for you is what brings joyful breath? What calls your spirit and gets you out of yourself and into the wild?
What takes you out of yourself but nevertheless plants you centered and grounded in who you really are?
Come where the coyotes sing and the magpies look for bright and shiny things!
Look for the ghosts of Georgia O’Keefe and DH Lawrence for inspiration.
